About the artist
Andrew Phua (APHUA) is a multidisciplinary artist and bespoke designer. With roots in Indonesia and Australia, and creative training across Melbourne, Toronto, and beyond, his practice moves between fashion, textile-based art, photography, and visual expression.

Working with surplus textiles, studio remnants, found materials, and garments carrying personal histories, Phua constructs sculptural works and wearable forms. From distinctive bowties and fluid garments to textile artworks and fabric sculptures, each piece reflects a careful, thoughtful approach — deliberate, limited, and not wasteful — guided by craftsmanship and transformation.

For APHUA, sustainability is not simply a concept but a guiding philosophy, rooted in rediscovery and material reinvention. His work engages with material memory and, at times, suggests narrative through form, texture, and process. It speaks to a quieter form of luxury, where thoughtful design, individuality, and timeless beauty emerge through attentive making.
