About the artist
Suzy Cuerrier lives in Trenton, Ontario. She started building miniature dollhouses in 2021 during the Covid pandemic with the sole objective to fill up her time while the social distancing was in place. Her first dollhouse was made from cardboard boxes and using odds and ends found around the house (more specifically, from her recycling bin!). Using tricks and ideas she found on the internet, over time, her 'slapped together project" started becoming more precise and elaborate. She started paying closer attention to using the correct scales and spending more time on the finishing touches. By the time the pandemic was over, she had become a miniaturist and has continued to build one or two dollhouses per year. Some are made of wood, some of cardboard but all are made using inexpensive material found around houses. The scale of the builds vary from 1:12th scale, the most common scale, down to a 1:48th scale pirate ship. While some projects have included dollhouse kits or conversions of children's toy houses, Suzy makes all her own furniture and has even made a few dolls. She would love to hear from other miniaturists in this area.
