With the 2017 Summer Art Show & Sale rapidly approaching, we would like to share some information about the featured artist for this year’s event.
This year’s featured artist will be Frances Luymes, from Trenton, Ontario. Frances is a highly qualified artist who has been painting for many years. From her early beginnings studying under Frances Prichard at the University of Idaho in the 1950s, to her current position as an art instructor and author, Frances Luymes has accumulated a multitude of art experience.
Over the years, Frances has shown her paintings across the United States, and in 2008 her marriage to Herman Luymes brought her to Canada and to Quinte West. She currently has pieces of art in several locations throughout the community, such as Trent Port Marina and Quinte West Library. She is also an author and has given workshops and written a book on how to tell your life story.
Frances was born and raised in the Palouse region of Eastern Washington State on July 11th, 1927. She grew up in the wheat fields, which granted her the freedom to explore, create, and grow close with her parents and two sisters. Over the course of her life she has created art, enjoyed skiing, played golf, and even written several children’s books, among other activities. Travelling around Texas and back to Washington State, Frances has left her mark, showing her paintings, and providing writing lessons.
Now living in Quinte West, Frances is using her artistic abilities in oil, watercolour, drawing, and pastel to teach people “Fun Art”. She hopes to help expand the artistic knowledge of others and provide a skill that is both interesting and enjoyable for all ages.
See Frances and other local artists by attending the Summer Art Show & Sale taking place at the Trent Port Marina on May 27th.
