As sunny days and warmer weather rapidly approach the area, so too does the inaugural Summer Art Show & Sale hosted by Arts Quinte West (AQW). On Saturday, May 27th, artists hailing from Quinte West will be displaying their art at the Trent Port Marina for all to see. This year’s featured artist is Frances Luymes, a fantastic painter who has many of her works for sale in this show.
The showcase and sale will begin at 10:00am and run until 4:00pm. However, everyone is encouraged to stay from 4:00pm to 6:00pm to enjoy an evening filled with drinks, socialization, and live music at the Art Lovers Reception. This is the first year the Summer Art Show & Sale has taken place and everyone involved is excited to be showing their art in such a beautiful setting. Located at 15 Creswell Dr. in Trenton, the Trent Port Marina will be the venue for this year’s Show & Sale. Over the past two years, the marina has been involved with AQW and currently displays art from AQW members at their location throughout the year.
This summer’s Art Show & Sale opens at 10:00am, and the community will be able to view and buy art pieces from a dozen local artists. “The talent and diversity of our local artists is amazing and I hope everyone can make the time to pop by and say hello,” said Suzanne Andrews, General Manager of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce. “The chamber stated this group in 2008 to help and promote the arts in our community and I believe they have made a big impact on Arts and Culture in our community.” Artists in this year’s show include: Frances Luymes; Cathy McComiskey; Christine Pellati; Edith Lepage Crete; Kim Klaver; Judy Black; Mike Gaudaur; Maureen Garrett; Chris Cruikshank; Marianne Crozier and Bernice Collingridge.
The marina will act as a wondrous public art gallery until 4:00pm. After this time, everyone is invited to stay until 6:00pm to converse with the artists and fellow art lovers at the Art Lovers Reception. The reception will feature a cash bar, and live music from local musicians Wayne Fowler and Bruce Croxford to close out the night.
