I thought I would try doing a work-in-progress of the wolf I am working on. It's been a couple of months work so far, usually only on weekends.

Work in progress #1 - Wolf

So this is the start of him. Drew him in, shaded the background, washed in some Indian yellow and started the eyes. For some reason I have to start with the eyes first!

Work in progress #2 - Wolf

This picture shows his nose getting more depth and texture, working on the fur under his eye and starting on the darkening of his ear. The white on the left side is a birch bark tree he is peaking from behind.

Work in progress #3 - Wolf

Starting to put the undercoat of him in, working all over the place! So much to do - need another set of hands! Was raining out when I took the picture so it's not really clear.

Work in progress #4 - Wolf

Really working a lot on the layers of his fur, varying the colours and washes to try and get some depth. I think I am done with the eyes now, but not sure about his nose. Have to take a break from him for a while, starting to look ugly to me!

Work in progress #5 - Wolf

Back at work on him, feeling better about how he is looking. A lot more fur work, laying down undercoats, working on his ears, threw in some of his whiskers to see how they would look. Still a ways to go but can see the light at the end of the tunnel!! Really liking how he is coming out.

Work in progress #6 - Wolf

Finished his ear and started working on the birch tree, still need to even out his coat and finish some of his fur on his chest, don't think it needs as much detail as above.A lot of little things to do, like the rest of his whiskers.  Almost done!!
